Municipal Network of School Libraries of Curitiba
The Municipal Network of School Libraries of Curitiba is a tool for
improving citizens’ quality of life. Each new library represents a new
space that supports knowledge, culture, and community integration. The
network consists of 118 libraries that are linked to individual schools;
45 Knowledge Lighthouses, which are located in easily accessible
buildings and public areas; and a technical library. These service
points are connected by the Online Libraries System, which has a
collection of 700,000 books. They are also reference points for culture
and leisure in their communities, offering local reference and lending
services and free Internet access.
