Project recovers degraded areas in Olinda

Project recovers degraded areas in OlindaA small tributary to the Beberibe River was known in the city of Olinda by the unfortunate name of ‘Malaria Canal’. To change this situation, the local City Hall and the community joined their efforts in the Project for the Restoration of the Malaria Canal. Together, they recovered degraded areas, paved streets, built new and decent houses, along with a drainage system to avoid flooding. At the same time, they implemented a social-assistance office for the families impacted by the works, and started a project for the generation of employment and income.
