Transportation
The Conference´s fleet of oficial cars includes dual fuel powered vehicules, as well as official others powered by biodiesel and E20 gasoline (with mixture of 20% to 25% of etanol). In order to reduce greenhouse gases emissions during the Conference, these vehicles use primarily ethanol, that does not contribute to the greenhouse effect, as recognized by the intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). This initiative is in harmony with Brazilian foreign policy for climate change and biofuels.
Furthermore, in order to encourage the use of non-motorized transport, the official spaces of Rio + 20 will have bike racks.
To prevent people from using their private vehicules, special public transportation services will be provided during the Conference.
