Exhibit from the artist Siron Franco portrays the colors, smells and sounds of the Cerrado
Created by the artist Siron Franco in response to an invitation from the Minister of Environment, Izabella Teixeira, the video-installation ‘Brazil Cerrado’ at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) aims to bring to the visitor the beauties of the Brazilian cerrado (a tropical savanna) and alerts to the urgent need for its preservation.
Two mega-panels and four environments occupy a total of over 600 m². In addition to displaying images of animals and vegetation, each environment has specific sensory elements related to the images, such as the smell of bush fire and earth, or water and animals sounds.
In the Experimental Center of Education and Art at MAM’s foyer, the exhibition visitors can also participate in activities designed especially for the ‘Brazil Cerrado’.
The artist Siron Franco was born in Goiás Velho (Goiás State) in 1947. He spent his childhood and adolescence in the city of Goiânia and is passionate about the biome of the region, the Cerrado. He makes many references to environmental preservation in his work.
