Italy signs agreement with Brazil to export sustainable energy
During the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio +20, held in Rio de Janeiro, the Italian Minister for the Environment, Conrado Clini, signed a trilateral agreement with Brazil to promote in the world, especially in developing countries, the diffusion of sustainable energy.
The agreement was signed with Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, and the Mining and Energy Minister, Edison Lobão, and calls for joint initiatives to enhance the competence of the Italian and Brazilian companies in the sector of renewable energy sources.
This way, Italian companies could favor Brazilian ones that invest in the "South of the Planet" to encourage sustainable development, for example, in Mozambique, Ethiopia, or the countries of West Africa. In these regions, the presence of entrepreneurial initiatives from Brazil are small, and also in other regions of the world.
"The Italian and Brazilian companies in the sectors of sustainable energy are the world's most advanced in research and development of new technologies with low environmental impact.
They can provide tools for developing countries to reduce their dependencies on degrading and costly energy sources, and assist in economic and social growth, which is the solution to poverty, one of the central topics of the Conference which is closing now in Rio de Janeiro" recalls Minister Clini.
