‘Caixa’ and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) sign deal for the development of Brazil
This Thursday, June 21, ‘Caixa Econômica Federal’ (a federal bank) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) signed an agreement in which they commit themselves to the implementation of programs and activities that promote socio-economic development in Brazil.
The president of ‘Caixa’, Jorge Hereda, said the deal will integrate the mechanisms of social development of both companies, aiming to improve the quality of life of the country’s population. "The IDB is a public international organization whose mission is to help accelerate the socioeconomic development of its member countries. Caixa's mission is to act in the promotion of citizenship and sustainable development of our country as a financial institution, public policies agent and partner of the State. The memorandum then translates the common interest that both institutions have in the development of individuals and communities," he said.
The signing took place during the Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio +20, and also calls for cooperation in projects in areas such as housing, public management, financial inclusion, infrastructure, environment and social development.
