Press accreditation
Press accreditation is strictly reserved for professionals of this sector: print media, photography, radio, television,, news agencies and online media.
The UN has already opened pre-accreditation to members of the press. For more information and pre-accreditation form, access the UN official website.
The deadline is 14th May, 2012.
After this period, it will only be possible to get accredited on-site
(at pavillion 1 of Riocentro convention center), after 07th June, 2012.
Nevertheless, the UN urge all participants to choose pre-accreditation, so as to expedite the whole process.
Instructions for the Accreditation of Automobiles and Mobile Journalism Units
In order to have access to the areas allotted to press automobiles at Riocentro and at the parking lot of the Mobile Journalism Units (UMJs) during the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), the accreditation must be requested by means of a specific form (Form F), available at the following link:
http://www.rio20.gov.br/documentos/formulario-de-credenciamento-de-veiculos.
The form must be electronically filled in, signed and sent to the e-mail:
rio20.transporte@itamaraty.gov.br until May 31st, at the latest.
If the vehicle to be accredited is a UMJ, it will count with a differentiated parking place in relation to the other press vehicles. In this case, please indicate the brand (‘Marca’) and model (‘Modelo’) of the vehicle in the form.
The assigned credentials will be handed over by the Coordination of Transportation of the Brazilian Committee of Rio+20 (‘Coordenação de Transportes do Comitê Nacional de Organização da Rio+20’), starting on June 4, at the following address: Rua Chile, n° 330, ed. Ventura – Leste, 21° andar.
Assistance for media professionals at the international airports and clearance of equipment
A special Immigration and Customs scheme at the international
airports in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo has been established to
assist official delegations and accredited media professionals who will
be covering the United Nations Conference for Sustainable Development
(Rio+20).
At the arrival areas, there will be Press Officers trained to help
media professionals with Immigration and Customs formalities, as well
as with any questions pertaining to those areas.
The email address rio20.press@itamaraty.gov.br has also been set up to
exclusively provide useful traveling information to the foreign press.
Media professionals can write to the above address, provide name,
equipment information and flight arrival, and expedite Customs
formalities. Any questions about immigration procedures can also be
sent to the same email address.
For general press information, please write to rio20.imprensa@itamaraty.gov.br.
Brazilian Regulation RFB n° 1.269, dated May 16 2012, defines
preferential clearance norms for the equipment of media professionals,
provided that they are not permanent residents in Brazil and have been
accredited by the UN to cover the Rio+20 Conference. The media
professional may have the equipment cleared under the temporary
admission regime by filling out duplicate copies of a customs
declaration form (Form A), whereby brand, model and other
specifications must be provided.
A sample of the Brazilian customs declaration form (“Formulário A”) is available.
