There will be 10 themes in the Dialogues: (i) Unemployment, decent work and migrations; (ii) Sustainable Development as a response to the economic and financial crises; (iii); Sustainable Development in the combat against poverty; (iv) Economics of Sustainable Development, including sustainable standards of production and consumption; (v) Forests; (vi); Food and nutritional security; (vii) Sustainable energy for all; (viii); Water; (ix) Sustainable cities and innovation; and (x) Oceans. All debates will be broadcasted live at the United Nations website
.
Each Dialogue will discuss 10 specific recommendations, which were reached based on a broad discussion that has taken place at the digital platform
. The platform was created with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and allowed over 11 thousand people from 190 countries – including activists, community leaders, scientists, the youth and representatives of the private sector – to take part in the discussions. The 100 recommendations that will be debated from June 16 to 19 are the result of this broad virtual debate.
DIGITAL VOTING
Internet users from the entire world may contribute to the Dialogues for Sustainable Development until June 15, by voting on the 100 recommendations
proposed by the digital platform.
All are invited to vote for these suggestions, which will serve as a parameter for the Dialogues that will take place at Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro from June 16 to 19. The best voted suggestions will be taken to the agenda of debates, and may be presented to the world leaders who will meet at the official section of Rio+20, from June 20 to 22, also at Riocentro.
The website
is available in the six official languages of the United Nations (English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese and Russian), and also in Portuguese.
