Launch of online Greenhouse Gas Emission Compensation Instrument - Press release 022/2012
The Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, will participate in the launch of an online Greenhouse Gas Emission Compensation Instrument at the main press conference room at Pavilion 3 (room # P3-7) of Riocentro today, June 14, at 2:10 pm. The compensation instrument will allow for voluntary individual compensation of greenhouse gas emission generated by air travel to Rio de Janeiro.
Developed by the Brazilian Government in partnership with PNUD-Brazil and Caixa Econômica Federal (Brazilian Savings Bank), the compensation instrument integrates the Brazilian National Strategy for Greenhouse Gas Emission Compensation for Rio+20. The Strategy comprises efforts toward the reduction of emissions generated by the Conference and the compensation of emissions by Brazilian Clean Development Mechanism projects.
