To enable maximum participation of the Brazilian civil society in the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), we info


CNO Rio+20

On April 12 and 13 at the Itamaraty Palace in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Government hosted the meeting for informal consultations on the themes of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20). Chief negotiators of 45 countries from all regions of the world, including the European Commission, were present.

During the meeting, the participants advanced the debate on the main themes of the Conference – Green Economy in the Context of Sustainable Development and Poverty Eradication, and the Institutional Structure of Sustainable Development.

Specific proposals have been equally considered, such as the launching of a process to establish sustainable development goals and a minimum level of global socio-environmental protection.

The Brazilian Government hosted the meeting in the capacity as future President of the Conference with the objective to facilitating, promoting and exploring convergence among the various positions.
