Healthy entertainment and environmental education in direct contact with nature

CNO Rio+20
Rio’s Botanic Garden has plant species from all over the world

Environmental diversity is everywhere to be seen in Brazil. Contrary to what most people think, it is not only in the countryside that you can find natural beauty. In many of the world’s capitals there are parks and ecological museums, botanic gardens and zoos, and many other attractions. The contact with these experiences is a healthy leisure option and it helps to raise people’s environmental awareness and education.

At Rio de Janeiro Botanic Garden, for example, it is possible to find species from all over the world. There are around 14.400 plants from 2.500 different species. Among orchids and bromeliad gardens, there are also cactus gardens, medicinal plants, carnivorous plants and even a sensory garden that allows visitors to feel unique sensations through touch and smell.

The Botanical Garden is open daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and admission charge is R$ 6.
