World Summit of States and Regions will discuss green economy and sustainable development
The World Summit of States and Regions, which will be held on June 19 in the city of Rio de Janeiro, is an event that will convene leaders from the main sub-national governments from the entire world, and which will discuss green economy and sustainable development.
This Summit, organized by the Rio de Janeiro State Government, in partnership with the United Regions Organization (ORU-FOGAR), the Network of Regional Governments for Sustainable Development (nrg4SD) and the Climate Group, the event will launch the Global Coalition of States and Regions for a new Economy, in which its members will commit to the specific goals and initiatives which encompass the economic, social, environmental and sustainable development dimensions.
The event will be attended by Monaco’s Prince Albert, Governors Sergio Cabral (Rio de Janeiro), Tarso Genro (Rio Grande do Sul), Beto Richa (Paraná) and Jacques Wagner (Bahia) and by several other governors from various states from other countries.

Parque dos Atletas opens daily until June 24, from 11 am to 8 pm. The access and admissions are free, except for June 20-22, when only people with UN credentials will be allowed in.
There are 44 pavilions at Parque dos Atletas with exhibits from 31 countries, 16 businesses, 18 Brazilian cities and 17 Brazilian states, 18 Agencies of the UN System, representatives of Brazil’s Legislative and Judicial branches and National and International Governmental Organizations.
Parque dos Atletas is located at Av. Salvador Allende, in front of Riocentro.
