Tree of Visions gathers wishes in all languages
Having Rio+20’s main topic, The Future We Want, as its basis, the organization Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) brought to Rio+20 the Tree of Visions. Located in one of Riocentro’s main halls, the tree stands out because of the huge amount of colorful papers stuck on it, with sentences in different languages.
People that passed by the spot are invited to write what they expect from the future and then to stick it on the tree.
“Everybody has equal participation, there are no distinctions. Here everybody can say what they wish for the future”, stated Harriet Thew, one of the project’s coordinators.
To the Norwegian Ingrid Skjoldvaer, it is an excellent opportunity to have an opinion about the future. “I hope that these initiatives have space and a voice all over the world so that more people can participate”, she added.
