Bike Rental
How about enjoying some natural beauties and going for a ride to the main tourist attractions of the Wonderful City while working out and preserving the environment? Bearing this in mind, Rio’s City Hall has just launched the project Bike Rio, in which bikes are rented at several different places around the city at fixed prices, thus, favoring your health and helping to reduce the impacts caused by automotive vehicles.
Eleven stations are already operational in Copacabana; they are located in the following places: Posto Seis, Sá Ferreira, Miguel Lemos, Cantagalo, Santa Clara, Dias da Rocha, Serzedelo Correia, Siqueira Campos, Copacabana Palace, Cardeal Arcoverde and Princesa Isabel.
By the end of 2011, there will be 60 stations, totaling 600 bikes moving around the city. Thinking about the expansion of the project, Rio’s bike lane network is being improved and must reach 300 km by the end of 2012. Botafogo, Catete, Centro, Copacabana, Cosme Velho, Flamengo, Gávea, Humaitá, Ipanema, Jardim Botânico, Lagoa, Laranjeiras, Leblon and Urca are the next neighborhoods in which Bike Rio is going to be implemented.
